The Plastics Testing Centre (PTC) at CIPET : IPT - Chennai is accredited by NABL as per ISO/IEC 17025:2005 for performing mechanical, thermal, electrical, chemical, and biological testing of plastics raw materials and products. The Plastics Testing Centre (PTC) is equipped with state of the art equipments and testing facilities at its Mechanical, Thermal, Chemical, Rheology and Product Testing, Optical, Characterization, Electrical and Biodegradation testing Laboratory and is recognized as one of the best testing laboratories in Asia. It renders its technical services to plastics industries and several Central & State government organizations through testing and quality assurance of plastic products and raw materials and third party inspection of plastics products.

The Plastics Processing division has a wide range of modern processing machinery and renders its services to the plastic industries in and around Chennai for job work and mould proving. Facilities include Injection Moulding machines, Extrusion, Blow Moulding and Compression Moulding machines, Roto Moulding, Pulverizer and Secondary Processing machinery.

The state of the art Tool room of CIPET : IPT - Chennai undertakes fabrication of high precision moulds, dies, special components for private and Government organizations. Several advanced moulds and components are fabricated at CIPET Tool room for Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Ordinance Factory Dumdum (OFDC), and Sothern Railway. Tool Room has various kinds of machines to meet the needs of the industry. Machines like CNC Machines, Wire cut EDM, Special purpose machines like jig Boring, Coordinate Drilling, Conventional Milling, Boring, Grinding and Shaping machines and Inspection Equipments like gauges.

The Design & CAD/CAM/CAE departments are equipped with necessary software like Pro-Engineer, Unigraphics, IDEAS, CATIA, Mould Flow, Poly CAD and Ansys to impart training to the students on product and mould design.
