DIRECTOR GENERAL’S ADDRESS DURING ANNUAL SUMMIT AT LEH ON 9th APRIL, 2010

“As you are all aware, CIPET has transformed its image from a mere training institute into an ATR institution and has grown in all the three domains, viz. Academic, Technology Support Service and Research & Development. My sincere tribute to the all Past Directors, Director Generals, Ministry Officials, Governing Council Members and CIPET Team members who have contributed significantly to attain the present status.

We have started to offer high end B.Tech., M.Tech., M.E. and Doctoral Programs at CIPET. Today we have a well qualified faculty of 75, with 23 Doctorates and 52 postgraduates, whereas in 2006-07, we had only 16 well qualified faculty with 10 doctorates and 6 post graduates. We have fulfilled the AICTE norms with respect to faculty strength & qualification and still in the process of strengthening further. The growth rate in LTC and STC programs have considerably increased when compared to 2006-2007. During the year 2009-10, CIPET has entered into MoU with 9 world renowned institutions/ universities for faculty/student exchange, collaborative research, etc. APM-2010 - The International conference on “Advancements in Polymeric Materials – Trends & Technology” has been organised very successfully with the active participation of Renowned Academician, Technologists from all over the Globe. The Conference has attracted and 350 personnels from leading institutions from both India & abroad and students fraternity. All round appreciation has been accorded not only from our Administrative Ministry but also from the well known academic institutions like MIT, University of Toronto, U-mass, Lowell etc. We have released two text books titled “Fundamentals of Plastics Testing” and “ Plastics Mould Technology (Vol I)” in the months of Feb. 2010 and March 2010 respectively.

CIPET is also in the process of enriching the infrastructure facilities at all centres. The Three High Learning Centres at Ahmedabad, Chennai and Lucknow are getting new academic blocks and the Academic block at the High learning centre, Bhubaneswar is getting vertical expansion to accommodate the new facilities created for the academic and R & D activities. The Administrative Ministry has allotted IPFT building at Gurgaon for coordinating the project activities of PWMC at New Delhi.

R&D activities have gained momentum and I congratulate the entire team of LARPM for their stupendous achievement. Few accomplishments of LARPM…

  • One textbook “ Fundamentals of Plastics Testing” has also been brought out and published by M/s. Springer
  • 5 patents were registered

Our Fiscal performance shows 138% growth in the internal revenue. The performance of few centres needs further improvement. The Centre Heads at these centres must initiate intense strategies to improve their performance by developing good team spirit amongst their team. The annual performance clearly shows that more customer oriented focus is needed in Design/Tool Room activities. The senior officials must take more efforts to complete the task in more efficient manner. I congratulate the best performers of the year 2009-10 for their valuable contributions and untiring efforts & services towards growth of CIPET. In the year 2009-10, more than 100 employees were deputed for equipment training, international conference/workshops across the world.

With the kind patronage & support of Administrative Ministry, CIPET has added three more feathers to its cap, i.e. Revised Administrative Manual, Implementation of Civil Pension, Accord of Sabbatical Leave. I express my sincere thanks to the Ministry of DONER for extending marvellous support by releasing the required financial support for the development of youth in the North Eastern Region.

There is no doubt that we have strengthened ourselves in Academic, Technology Support Service and Research domains – ultimately to attain the staus of “Institution of Excellence.” Let us not forget Together We Can
